Todd “Oilman” Friesen & Greg “Webguerrilla” Boser Interview Matt Cutts on WebMasterRadio
An hour long show called “SEO Rockstars” which airs every Tuesday on WebmasterRadio.FM and is hosted by Todd Friesen and Greg Boser interviewed Matt Cutts of Google on January 31st.
In case you are unfamiliar with the show, Todd and Greg discuss a variety of search engine optimization tactics that range from low to high risk methods of online marketing or in other words, white hat, black hat and little gray in between. Both freely admit that they have and will continue to “spam” the search engines if necessary with tactics that many white hat SEOs may stay far away from.
Matt Cutts is a top software engineer at Google whose has a passion of combating search engine spam. So when I originally heard that Todd and Greg were going to interview him, I thought it would be a very interesting show. Matt is actually a very nice guy, friendly to SEOs and webmasters on both sides of the black/hat white hat debate. Sometimes you have to wonder if his “niceness” has a purpose however, especially when geared towards those who make a living of gaming the search engines. Is he just being understanding or is he really trying to learn a thing or two that he can then use in his battle against spam?
The program brought a record number of listeners and chat room attendees and dealt with the following topics:
- The Google Sandbox
- One of Todd’s sites – Linkcondom.com
- The new BigDaddy datacenter
- Link baiting
- The v7ndotcom contest
Rand Fishkin has provided more detailed coverage of these individual items at SEOmoz.org. You can also listen to the entire archived audio file as well. It was a pretty interesting show but is only part one as Matt promised to come back in a couple of months for a 2nd show. What will the boys have in store for the next show? You’ll have to tune in to find out!
