In an announcement last week during PubCon, Las Vegas, Danny Sullivan revealed his new home, Search Engine Land, where he will continue to do what he has been doing for the past ten years - covering the world of search. Along with that announcement came the news that Chris Sherman and Barry Schwartz would also be contributors as well. Danny will leave his current home, Search Engine Watch by the end of this month. Will Chris and Barry also be leaving? The answer is yes. Chris Sherman's contract with Incisive, owner of Search Engine Watch, expires at the end of this year and Barry was never under any contract.

That's the old news. Here is the new - it was announced today that many others who are currently writing for Search Engine Watch will be moving over to Danny's new site. Those include Phil Bradley, Bill Slawski, Jennifer Slegg, Brian Smith, and Greg Sterling. It looks like Danny is pulling the whole operation with him.

Who does that leave at SEW? Elisabeth Osmeloski and Detlev Johnson. Keep in mind that Elisabeth is really in charge of the Search Engine Watch Forum and a rare contributor to the blog. Detlev already works for PositionTech and writes at SearchReturn. I think Detlev has contributed more to hosting The Daily SearchCast (which still belongs to Danny and WebmasterRadio.FM) when Danny is absent than the Search Engine Watch Blog itself.

This leads me to wonder what the future holds for Search Engine Watch. Will it die a slow death as flow of content ceases or will Incisive hire new writers? If so who will they be? For now it looks like Search Engine Watch as we know it - Danny and his contributing staff, will continue on but under the new banner of Search Engine Land.
