This article reminds me how much folks like lists. Writing articles with useful lists is always a good strategy.

David,
Great post! I had gone with two strategies, one for personal presence as I author the company blog, and another using social media with company profiles. I hadn't thought of the second until I read your post ;)!

Great overview - I have done the same thing with other keyword phrases.

I will be saving this and referring to it later.

Wrote about this a few months ago here:

<a href="http://www.jaankanellis.com/top-10-reputation-or-brand-management-tips/" rel="nofollow">http://www.jaankanellis.com/top-10-reputation-or-brand-management-tips/</a>

Social Media and blogs with authority can easily manage bad press and push those listings out of the top 30.

I don't use social media yet... But I have done a very good job in my local market for SEO. Sometimes completely owning the first page. I just use different resources such as free classifieds. If you have the time and energy it is amazingly easy. I also have done with with blog on another site. I am surprised that more people don't do it.
