Should Twitter Be Used For Serious Stuff?

Stan Schroeder wrote a piece on Mashable questioning whether the popular micro-blogging service, Twitter should be used for anything important. He writes, "Here’s a simple rule: if it’s important, don’t say it on Twitter. If it requires a response, don’t say it on Twitter. If you actually care whether anyone will see what you’ve just written, don’t say it on Twitter. Twitter, however fun it may be, simply isn’t designed for it." Sorry, I don't agree.

AdSense for Search Within Your Own Site

Google announced today that you can now display AdSense for search results within your own site. In this manner, you have the freedom to offer users web search while still maintaining the look and feel of your site. You can keep elements like the header, footer, and site navigation panel the same for the search results page you create. I have yet to try myself but it sounds very cool.

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

I will be heading out for vacation this Sunday for about 10 days. My destination - Hawaii! First time for me believe it or not. Actually it is my lovely wife who is dragging me off. Her idea of a vacation is relaxation while mine is riding roller coasters. This being Hawaii however I'm sure I am going to enjoy it. I need a break from the daily routine anyway and what better way to do it then a relaxing vacation on the little island. So I probably won't be posting anything next week but should be back the following week. In the meantime, I leave you with a few of my favorite things, that is blogs that I like to read.

AdSense is Changing the Developing World

USA Today recently ran a story "Google's Hidden Payroll" in which they report on how AdSense is making a big difference in people's lives in developing countries such as India, the Philippines and Egypt. Individuals with web sites are running AdSense ads and in turn are earning what we may consider in the United States a nominal income but to them is quite substantial. AdSense is changing the economic status of many people's lives in countries where making a decent living is not always possible.

Political Bloggers To Get Federal Protection?

CNet News reports that according to a bill approved by a House of Representatives panel on Thursday, political loggers would be largely immunized from hundreds of pages of confusing federal regulations dealing with election laws. The bill would amend current federal campaign finance laws to give Internet publishers many of the same freedoms that newspapers and magazines currently enjoy.
