Housekeeping: Replacing Weekly Rap-up With Daily Finds

While I do not attempt to recap all the news that happens in the industry of search and social media here on this blog mostly due to the fact that there are many others that do it quite well, I have published a Weekly Rap-up for some time now. It has been a good way to highlight some of the top stories and blog posts that are put out each week. Now we are doing away with the Weekly Rap-up and in its place will publish a "Daily Finds in the World of Search & Social Media."

Government Steps Up Efforts To Access Any Email or Web Search Data

I came across a disturbing report from The Raw Story about National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell's plans for cyberspace spying that would make the current debate on warrantless wiretaps look like a "walk in the park," according to an interview published in the New Yorker's print edition today. The plan would give the government the authority to examine the content of any e-mail, file transfer or Web search.

Traffic Power CEO Matt Marlon Accused of Foreclosure Scam

It has been some time since we have heard anything regarding Traffic Power, a Nevada based "SEO" company that was responsible for offering shady marketing practices that eventually got thousands of their customers banned from Google. However, I've decided to go ahead and try it and see what happens. If it becomes too burdensome, dealing with blog spammers and the like, then I may turn them back off at a later date. As for now, feel free to comment away. ;)

SearchRank Blog Is Now Official!

I have been compiling news related to the search engine industry since the beginning of 2004. Mostly I would provide an excerpt of a news story and then link to it. At the beginning of this year we began to change our news section into more of a blog style of format. However the blog was static meaning that it was not available as a RSS/XML feed.
